Help shape better youth services in Greenwich

A new survey by Young Greenwich is asking young people, parents and carers, and community organisations to share their views on youth provision across the borough. If you care about the kind of activities, spaces and support available for young people in East Greenwich and beyond, this is your chance to say what’s missing.

The survey is part of a borough-wide review to understand:

  • What young people are already using

  • What they want to see more of

  • Where provision is lacking

  • What barriers are stopping them from taking part

East Greenwich has seen a huge rise in the number of families and children living here. But much of the focus has been on housing, not services. The lack of open-access activities for teenagers is a concern. Developers talk about “play space” but rarely for older children or young adults. As we’ve said in many planning objections, this has consequences for anti-social behaviour and pressure on public space.

We also know that many of the new developments offer nothing affordable or accessible to young people once they’re past primary school. There’s a lot of effort put into very young children, and not enough for older ones who want independence, challenge, or just somewhere to hang out safely.

Have your say

The Young Greenwich survey is open to:

  • Young people aged 8–19 (or up to 25 for those with SEND)

  • Parents, carers and local residents

  • Community groups, schools and professionals working with young people

It only takes a few minutes to complete, and the findings will feed into future plans by the council and youth services.
