East Greenwich police update – August 2025

The East Greenwich Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) has shared their latest newsletter. Here are the key updates for local residents. You can read the full letter here.

Free bike marking events

In July, 32 residents took part in a free bike marking event on Banning Street. Bikes were registered with BikeRegister to help deter theft.

A second session will take place on Saturday 18 October 2025, 3–5pm at The Concierge, 49 Banning Street SE10. This is free and open to all – bring your bike along.

Tackling anti-social behaviour

Police patrols have been stepped up around Banning Street, Christchurch Way, Trafalgar Road and surrounding areas. These focus on drug dealing and drug use, which remain a concern. Both high-visibility and plain clothes patrols will continue in the coming weeks.

Murder investigation

On 27 August, police were called to Tyler Street, SE10, after reports of a stabbing. A woman in her 20s sadly died at the scene. A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in hospital in critical condition. Police believe the individuals were known to each other.

If you have information, call 101 quoting 8218/27AUG.

Supporting vulnerable people
