Local councillor hustings

  • Christ Church, East Greenwich Trafalgar Road London, England, SE10 9EQ United Kingdom (map)

Have your say on East Greenwich’s future

Date: 28th April

Time: 7:30pm – 9pm

Location: Christ Church East Greenwich

The East Greenwich Residents Association (EGRA) invites all residents to a pivotal evening for local democracy. As we approach the local elections, this is your opportunity to meet the candidates seeking to represent our ward, scrutinise their priorities, and ask how they plan to support our neighbourhood.

As a community-led organisation, EGRA is dedicated to protecting our community spaces, improving public areas, and ensuring residents have a genuine voice in planning decisions. We are working to create a cleaner, safer, and more vibrant neighbourhood. This hustings provides an opportunity for local residents to ensure our future councillors are aligned with these goals.

Why this matters

East Greenwich is undergoing significant change. We need strong representation on the council to ensure our voice is heard.

We need councillors who will prioritise community wellbeing over merely commercial gain and commit to rigorous scrutiny of new developments.

Key themes for debate

Based on resident feedback and our recent campaigning work, we will ask candidates to address the following critical issues:

  • Responsible Licensing & Public Nuisance: How will candidates protect the Cumulative Impact Zone (CIZ) and tackle the noise, litter, and safety hazards caused by late-night delivery hubs and 24-hour operations?

  • Planning & Density: With developers pushing for higher densities, how will candidates ensure that essential infrastructure—such as transport, health services, and waste management—keeps pace with the cumulative impact of new housing?

  • Air Quality & Green Spaces: Pollution levels in East Greenwich consistently remain a concern. How will candidates support the enhancement of our green infrastructure and ensuring that air quality is a decisive factor in planning permissions?

Submit your questions

This event is for you. If you have a specific question regarding the management of our streets, the protection of our amenities, or the future of East Greenwich, please submit it in advance or bring it with you on the night.

Send your questions to info@egra.london

Join us on the 28th April at Christ Church East Greenwich. Let’s make East Greenwich a place residents have a meaningful voice.
